Challenge Walk MS

Strength, Spirit and a Free Massage
You’ve always heard that Challenge Walk MS is a feel-good event, now here’s your chance to experience it: register in February and receive a free 15-minute massage! That’s right – on-site massages at Alpine Resort by licensed therapists are part of the amenities provided during Challenge Walk MS weekend, September 19-21. Register this month and receive one for free!

Challenge Walk MSUp to 90 and Climbing
Ninety people are already registered for Challenge Walk MS, including 21 first-time participants! Are you among them? If so, terrific … be sure to check out the Challenge Walk MS website for tips and ideas to help as you train and fundraise. Encourage your family and friends to register this month, too (they’ll get a free massage). And if you haven’t registered yet, sign up now and be rewarded with a free massage of your own.

Your Choice: 50 Miles or 50K
Did you know that a 30-mile Challenge Walk MS option is available? Instead of walking the full 50 miles, a number of participants choose to walk 10 miles each morning instead, and then catch a shuttle at lunch and go back to the resort. Those 30 miles are roughly equivalent to a 50K, meaning you still earn some serious bragging rights.

Change Lives Message T-shirtTraining T-shirts Are on the Way
Every registered walker receives a free 2014 Challenge Walk MS training T-shirt. Those who already registered should receive their shirt this week; those who have yet to register will receive their shirts within a few weeks of signing up.

Half Day Bags

“Know Before You Go” Tip of the Month
Half-day bags are provided for every Challenge Walk MS walker, giving you the chance to have items such as a change of socks, different shoes, sunscreen and a light jacket transported each day from the start line to lunch and from lunch to the finish line so you can have items you might need and the chance to discard the ones you don’t.

Get Fit, Stay Fit & Exercise with MS
The monthly Can Do MS webinar series offers insight on different topics from various MS experts. The topic of the March 11 webinar, “Get Fit, Stay Fit & Exercise with MS,” may help you get motivated for Challenge Walk MS! Presented by Wisconsin’s own Alex Ng, PhD, FACSM, and Tammy G. Roehrs, PT, MA, NCS, it will include information on improving your exercise regime as well as advice on how to become or stay fit regardless of the challenges of MS or your current fitness level. The online event will take place from 7 – 8:15 p.m. CST. Anyone interested can register here.

Do Your Donors Have Matching Gift Programs?
When family members, friends and neighbors offer to contribute to your fundraising goal, be sure to ask if their employers have matching gift programs. It’s a great way for them to instantly double or even triple the amount of their contribution. They can ask their HR representative or search online here.

Challenge Walk MS Personal PagePersonalized Participant Pages
Every Challenge Walk MS walker and Super Crew member gets a participant page on the Challenge Walk MS website, challengewalkMSwi.org, to help you fundraise and track individual and team donation totals. Remember to make your own self-pledge, too – studies show those who do often raise 2½ times more than those who don’t. Contact the Chapter at 262-369-4400 or 800-242-3358 if you need assistance.
